Karitane has been providing early intervention and parenting services since 1923 to parents with children aged between 0-5years. Following many requests from our clients for a choice in services provided, Karitane now operates a private fee- based home service to complement our existing accredited parenting services.
Karitane@Home provides parents with quick access to expert advice without having to leave the comfort of your own home. Our staff will listen to your issues and together develop a strategy that works for you and your family. Karitane@Home staff understand that every parent has different concerns and they will spend time with you to address these parenting concerns and issues that are important to you.
The service caters for families with children 0-5 years who are in need of assistance or guidance with parenting issues such as sleep and settling, breast and feeding management, looking after a new baby, managing multiple births, introducing new foods and managing toddler behaviour.
Our Clinical Coordinator for Karitane@Home is Maree Klafas, Registered Nurse & Midwife and Lactation Consultant, with child and adolescent health qualifications and has extensive experience working in the child and family health area. All our Karitane@Home staff are qualified nurses who are employed by Karitane. This means that our staff have gone through rigorous security checks and are required to abide by Karitane and NSW Health Department policies.
Our aim is to have a nurse visit you within 3 working days from your booking. Our service operates Monday to Wed, 8am -5 pm (excluding public holidays) and Friday where Jackie does home visits. It is currently limited to specific geographic areas of Sydney, however, with service demand, times and areas will increase.
Karitane@Home staff visits are for two and half hours (three hours for twins or more) and provide individual advice care and support followed by a further telephone call a week following the visit.
Health Fund rebate is available from participating health funds only - AHM, Australian Unity, Credicare, Grand United Health, NSW Teachers Federation, Manchester Unity (specific levels only), NRMA, Navy Health, Teachers Union Health, Health Partners and RT Health.
