Sleep and Settling

There are many ways you can support your child going to sleep, finding the strategy that best suits you and your family can be challenging. At Karitane we use strategies which respond to your baby’s cues.

Crying Babies

Most babies have periods of crying which may last one to three hours, once or twice a day. When your baby is crying, it can be overwhelming to work out why, and understanding their needs can be very hard.

Feeding

Breastfeeding is recommended from birth to 12 months and beyond as long as mum and baby are happy to continue. To meet your babies nutritional and developmental needs introduce solid foods from around 6 months.

Toddlers

The toddler years can be a challenging time for parents, as toddlers mature and begin to explore the world they will experience a whole new range of emotions which may be difficult for them to manage.

Development Milestones

Milestones are only a guide as all babies grow and develop at a different rate. Parents play an important role in encouraging their babies development through interactions and play.

Adjusting to Parenthood

Becoming a parent is a time of change with new challenges and responsibilities. Stress and difficulties adjusting to being a parent can occur during pregnancy or postnatally.

Parenting Centres

Karitane Parenting Centres empower families by providing parenting education, support and guidance in a relaxed environment. They provide support to families with children from newborn to 5 years.

Residential Services

This is a 3 to 4 night stay that guides parents through difficult parenting concerns. This is for families with children newborn to 4 years.

Toddler Clinic

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is based on play and aims to increase positive and reduce negative behaviours by strengthening the parent-child relationship, giving you strategies to better manage your child.

Internet - PCIT

Our specialised toddler clinic is now offering Parent Child Interaction Therapy to regional and rural families using video based teleconferencing.

Virtual Home Visits

A NEW service providing you with education and support from the comfort of your home. Using a computer or smartphone you now can access 2 hour consultation with a Karitane child and family hearlt nurse.

Mental Health Services

Depression or anxiety with the stress and difficulties adjusting to being a parent can occur during pregnancy or postnatal. Many parents suffer in silence, seeking help early is really important.

When you call Karitane Careline a friendly and experienced Child and Family Health Nurse will support you with guidance and encouragement on your parenting journey.

Covering South West and South East suburbs of Sydney, Karitane provides a comprehensive range of community groups designed to support parents in their parenting role.
